Is it impolite to not have someone say “gesundheit” or “bless you” when you sneeze? To clarify further- in cubicle environments, where you do not see one another?
I feel as though if you know someone, sure, say whatever… but otherwise, why? It’s only a sneeze. If you really think that your soul is leaving every time you sneeze, and therefore must have someone say “bless you” to put it back in it’s proper place… well… that’s a whole other issue.
Otherwise, I’ve come to terms with the fact that saying something after someone sneezes is not a required facet of politeness to non-eye-contact strangers. (I used to not feel this way.)
