Hahahaha. “bros bros bros bros”. Hahahaha.
I am very disappointed in this weekend. It could have been quite productive and fun, except the boy and then myself proceeded to get sick over the course of the past two days.
We were (sort of) at Wine in the Woods, at Merriweather, yesterday. The boy was starting to feel rather bad off at this point, and I was feeling twinges of something, but I shook it off, and he felt cured via Frappucino, so we decided to tough it out. However, we didn’t get to taste much wine (though I did purchase a bottle to drink from Serpent Ridge, one of my faves) and wound up having to bounce fairly early. After some napping (and I never nap- should have seen the signs!), we decided to go over to my place so I could do some more unpacking and organizing, and so he could chill and watch some Star Trek.
Now, I moved into a house that’s over 100 years old (certainly not unusual in ‘Historic Federal Hill’) and I’ve been sort of jokingly wondering if it could be haunted. Creepy dirt floor basement notwithstanding, it was mostly a joke, though friends family members of mine have had spectral incidents in several old homes.
So in the back of my mind is a roommate who swears she saw something creepy, and various unexplained knocks and rattles around the house (not your normal ‘settling foundation’ — and I have yet to find evidence of rats though that could always be a cause)… in any case these things are on my mind as I finally go to bed in the new place for the first time.
Perhaps now is a good time to mention that, as a child, I used to have the most vicious ghost-related night terrors. Probably because, though the unknown gives me the heebie-jeebies, I did what was natural for a curious child, and was obsessed with it. I would beg my parents to let me stay up (past my 8-o’clock bedtime!) to watch Unsolved Mysteries. Once I got into middle school, I discovered a section in the library devoted to the occult and began reading those books vociferously.
Alas, all this new found knowledge did was to inflict upon my imagination more fuel for my night terrors.
So, in any case, I’m on my phone, going through Tastespotting on Google Reader, trying to feel drowsy enough to drop off to sleep immediately. It’s a bit late, and with little sleep the night before, I’m at that state where you are almost too tired to sleep. Then, all of a sudden, my phone signal cuts out. Completely: 4 bars of 3G to barely 1 bar of not even EVDO (I forgot what the prior network state was called, but essentially 1G).
“Okay,” I say to myself, “obviously the ghost here thinks it’s high time I went to bed!” Ha ha ha. So I start to drop off to sleep.. and begin to have the weirdest evening ever. Often I felt trapped between a dream sleep and awakeness. I’d start to drop off to sleep, and then I’d hear some noise and pop back into semi-awakeness.
Essentially, all I know is that I dreamed? perceived? a presence named “Millie”, who is rather obsessed with travel. She was fascinated by my trunk and suitcases at the very least. It was quite an odd experience, and though I’m willing to chalk it all up to dreams, I do find it much more interesting to consider we might have our very own ghost who introduced herself to us! I like to think she’s probably a doting mother figure (“why don’t you get to bed, young lady!”) and will hopefully help me out by placing articles I’ve lost in obvious locations for me to find. And maybe I’ll finally get over my night terrors!
Lol.
Sure thing, I’d LOVE to help you move out of your two bedroom apartment! - The Oatmeal
I did not do this to my friends this year, bee tee dubs :) hiring movers is totally worth the money.
Baltimore Tumblrs?
So I’m noticing several new Bmore tumblrs lately! Yay! Not that I have the time to regularly check tumblr, but… :) Now that I am actually a city resident my love for all things Baltimore has only increased.
Do you have any Bmore Tumblrs you enjoy?
Yessss I’ve been waiting for these to show up! I would destroy boxes of these as a kid during the summertime.
